It can be rung, struck like a gong or made to 'sing' by rubbing the outer rim with a striker.
The bell is considered to represent the female aspect whilst the strker represents the male aspect.
Additionally, the ringing of the bell can be associated with the air element as well as marking the commencement and termination of ritual.
Each prayer bell comes with a striker and the bell handle can be unscrewed for ease of storage.
